Among the Hidden Review

Among the Hidden review

"Among the Hidden", by Margaret Peterson-Haddix, is about a boy named Luke Grander, who is a "third" child that meets another third child by the name of Jean. Third children are illegal this era, so it's a really, really big deal to even communicate with people outside of his family to Luke. Jean is organizing a rally against the government, and wants Luke to be apart of it. Luke refuses, warning jean that she might be shot, but she does it any way. After being shot at the rally (duh, who didn't see that coming?), Jean's dad helped cover Luke's identity, so he can continue Jeans' work.

One of the main themes in this book is be careful when rebelling the government. You can see this theme when Luke found out Jean got killed at the rally. the government is powerful, and by powerful I mean willing to kill. To organize a rally that just marches up to a highly guarded place, such as the white house, unprotected is probably one of the best ways to get killed, for sure. I mean, it's like tickling the sleeping lion, if you anger him, he bits off your head. But if you are careful, government rebel can be effective.

I would recommend this book to people who love fights for freedom. I loved it because I'm one of those people that once they start reading a book, they're like in a trance, can't wake them up.I feel what the characters feel, unless they're doing something stupid. Then I either look away, or say, "what are they thinking?!?!!" or something along those lines. If any of these things apply to you, read on.
